Lyrics Meme (Survey) - Getting to Know You
Answer the questions with song lyric quotes.
Who are you?
I'm the next act
waiting in the wings
I'm an animal
Trapped in your hot car
I am all the days
that you choose to ignore
  - Radiohead
Are you male or female?
I'm just a girl, what's my destiny?
What I've succumbed to is making me numb
I'm just a girl, my apologies
What I've become is so burdensome
I'm just a girl, lucky me
Twiddle-dum there's no comparison – No Doubt

What place do you love best?
I wish you were here with me, walking on the beach in Hawaii
playing on the golden sand, looking at the ocean now I understand
love is like the open sea, and I wish you were here with me
on the beach in Hawaii – Ziggy Marley
What do you look like?
Big black boots,
Long brown hair,
She's so sweet
With her get back stare.  Jet
What do you want to say to your best friend?
You can try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough
If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough – Radiohead
What’s your best quality?
You pick the place and Ill choose the time
And I’ll climb
That hill in my own way.
Just wait a while for the right day.
And as I rise above the tree-line and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sound of the things
you’ve said today. – Pink Floyd
What’s your worst quality?
Oh, it’s another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said think before speaking  John Mayer
Where do you see yourself in one year?
Maybe I'm not but you're all I got left to believe in
Don't give up on me
I'm about to come alive
And I know that it's been hard
And it's been a long time coming
Don't give up on me
I'm about to come alive  Train
What’s your secret?
Don't get any big ideas
they're not gonna happen
You paint yourself white
and feel up with noise
but there'll be something missing - Radiohead
Something you like about yourself
Call your name every day when I feel so helpless
I've fallen down but I'll rise above this, rise above this
Forty eight ways to say that I'm feelin' helpless
I'm Falling down, falling down, but I'll rise above this, rise above this,
Rise above this, rise above this doubt  Seether
What does love mean to you?
I've been loving you for such a long, long time
Expecting nothing in return
Just for you to have a little faith in me
You see time, time is our friend
'Cause for us there is no end
all you gotta do is have a little faith in me
i will hold you up, i will hold you up
And your love gives me strength enough
So have a little faith in me.  – John Hiatt
What would you say to the one who got away?
And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you  Linkin Park
What makes you angry?
Down and out
It can’t be helped but there’s a lot of it about.
With, without.
And who’ll deny it’s what the fighting’s all about?
Out of the way, it’s a busy day
I’ve got things on my mind.
For the want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died.  – Pink Floyd
What makes you happy?
I hear babies cry I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world – Louis Armstrong
What makes you sad?
She hangs her head and cries on my shirt.
She must be hurt very badly.
Tell me what's making you sad, Li?
Open your door, don't hide in the dark.
You're lost in the dark, you can trust me.
'Cause you know that's how it must be.

Lisa Lisa, sad Lisa Lisa.  – Cat Stevens
How do you feel when you think about your biggest mistake?
I look ahead to all the plans that we made
And the dreams that we had
I’m in a world that tries to take them away
Oh but I’m taking them back
Cause all of this time I' ve been just too blind to understand
What should matter to me
My friend this life we live is not what we have
It’s what we believe  3 Doors Down
Some words to live by
They love to tell you stay inside the lines
But something’s better on the other side – John Mayer

What is it with writers loving Radiohead? Also, JAZZ lovers are attracted to Thom Yorke and his evocative lyrics and imaginative music. Kudos. I wanted to use ONE Radiohead for each, but thought we may all get depressed. I couldn't use my jazz for me because 99 percent of it is instrumental. :-)
kudos and rated.
great job
Very entertaining post. I like the clever snap shot with `sound'!
Thank you for sharing.
Umbrella - Thanks. This was a lot of fun!

Greg - In my opinion, any occasion is perfect for Radiohead. :)

Nahatsu - Thank you. You should try to make one, too!
Wonderful. Good Radiohead.
I would be happy to trade Ipods with ya anytime :D
hooray!

radiohead...I loves me some radiohead!
Yay! Lots of Radiohead fans among us! I have a t-shirt from their last tour. Whenever I wear it, no one "gets" it (it's song lyrics from "House of Cards"). When I tell them who it is, they always say, "What's Radiohead?" That's pretty much when I feel sorry for them.
Nice ones Lisa. Like the use of John Hiatt. I think my favorite part of all this is reading the lyrics without the tune in your head. Makes them pop out even more.

I have got to have me a sit-down with some Radiohead. Maybe that will be my soundtrack for this Sunday at home. I just never got into them. I might not even know a song of theirs if I heard it. I have no idea how this happened. I hang out with Radiohead people, I am like other people who like them, and I the lyrics I have seen seem nicely, well, lyrical.
Oh, and if you find that Jewel song, enjoy listening to her when she had balls. It was the influence of Steve Poltz. Look him up. He's hilarious and they are ex's/sometime bandmates.
Katina - Thanks for stopping by! If you are willing to give Radiohead a listen, I highly recommend their latest one "In Rainbows". It received a bit more airplay than the other and you'll probably recognize a song or two on it. Plus, it's just masterful in every way. You've probably heard the songs "Creep" or "High and Dry" and just aren't recognizing them. You'll know them if you hear them, but don't judge all of Radiohead by those two songs. They have so much that is way better.

Thanks for the recommendation about Jewel and Steve Poltz. I will definitely check them out. I love finding new music!
Great selections, Lisa! But What I love about these especially is that I don't know very many of them, except by name - maybe time to give Radiohead a whirl...thanks for the inspiration!
Donna and Liz - Thanks for checking out my lyrics. It's been so fun getting to know others a bit better and as a great bonus, discovering new music in the process.
My goodness...and you're a fellow Radiohead fan, too! This is getting freaky. Radiohead is great stuff. I have In Rainbows, Amnesiac, and OK Computer. I love their stuff. And I have that Seether song on my iPod. It's so uplifting.
Scruffus - are you sure we're not related? Or in the very least living parallel lives? Too funny! I am a SERIOUS Radiohead fan. "In Rainbows" is one of two albums (the other is "Dark Side of the Moon") that I would need to have with me on a deserted island. Both of them can instantly transport me to a better place. It's especially helpful just after paying bills, talking to mom, or when driving in traffic. :)
